Our new Region 11 Representative is Annie Garner  (a.garner@blueynder.co.uk)  and she will be coving Staffordshire, Shropshire and Herefordshire while Sarah Gravestock (sarahgravestock@btinternet.com)  will continue to cover Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcester with Susan Lees (susanlees2073@icloud.com) who is our YQ leader.


 Do check out the Young Quilter’s website on The Guild webpage. Here is the link  www.youngquilters.org.uk.  Sarah runs an After-School Group at Harry & Floss (or Flossie Quilters as they are known) and Annie is running a YQ day at Focuscraft in Shrewsbury.

Children aged 5 to 18 are eligible to participate in any Young Quilter workshop throughout the UK. If you enjoy sewing, dyeing, fabric painting or any kind of stitch activity then Young Quilters is for you. It is all about having fun, being creative and making new friends.

 
Normal membership is £5.00 per annum but Region 11 will pay your first year so try before you buy! This membership offers you the following
-Two issues of the Young Quilter newsletter which is published in the spring and autumn
-Opportunity to attend workshops in the region where you live or are visiting
-The chance to enter challenges set by the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles at their AGM
or the Festival of Quilts
-The opportunity to attend special workshops for YQ’s at Quilters ‘Guild events such as
the AGM and conference and the Festival of Quilts.


DORIS DEBNEY MEMORIAL PRIZE
In 2014 the Quilters’ Guild announced the inauguration of a new prize of £100.00 to be
given to the overall winner of the YQ exhibition at the AGM for five years. The prize is to
enable the winner of the YQ AGM challenge to further his/her textile exploration.
Doris Debney worked as a nursery nurse and a member of The Quilters’ Guild. Children were
important to her and in honour of Doris who died in June 2013, the prize has been
established by her family to leave a legacy to Young Quilters in her name. This prize will be
awarded annually at the AGM to the winner of the YQ AGM challenge.


Region 11 is a large group so please check our website regularly to check on events and
activities which may be organised on your behalf. Remember if you are visiting other
regions, they may have something you may wish to attend as well...keep checking!
